Who Runs This Site
ChargeCompared is run by Jacob Musselman, an EV driver who got tired of every "best home EV charger" article either parroting manufacturer press releases or sitting unmaintained for two years with dead product links and stale prices. The site started as a personal spreadsheet and grew into something public when it became clear the comparisons were more useful than what was showing up in search results.
It is a one-person operation. No outsourced writers, no ghostwritten sponsored posts, no "editorial team" that does not exist. Just one person reading spec sheets, cross-checking Amazon reviews, and keeping the comparison tables current.
Our Mission
The EV charger market is growing fast, and choosing the right home charger should not require an engineering degree. ChargeCompared organizes the data that matters (amperage, charging speed, smart features, compatibility, price) into clear side-by-side comparisons that help you make a confident decision in under ten minutes.
How We Research
Every comparison on this site is built from publicly available information. Specs come directly from manufacturer product pages. Prices and stock status come from Amazon, verified each week via an automated Playwright script that loads the live product page and reads the buybox. Owner feedback is pulled from verified-purchase Amazon reviews and /r/evcharging threads. If owner consensus disagrees with the manufacturer's claims, the article flags it.
When a product goes out of stock, it is removed from the comparison entirely and a replacement is sourced from the same price and feature band. When a price changes, every article that references the product is updated in the same pass.
What We Don't Do
We do not accept payment from any manufacturer to influence rankings or recommendations. We do not publish sponsored content disguised as comparisons. When a product leads a category in our tables, its specs and owner feedback earned that position before any affiliate link was added to the page.
Affiliate links help fund the site but never change how products are ranked or presented. The commission is the same regardless of which charger you buy.
Corrections and Updates
Product specs change, prices fluctuate, and new models launch regularly. The comparisons here update on a weekly schedule. If you spot an error or an outdated spec, let us know and it will be corrected in the next pass.
