About

Jacob Musselman runs ChargeCompared, where he tracks every home EV charger on the market. He drives an EV daily and spends weekends digging through spec sheets, owner forums, and Amazon reviews to figure out which chargers are actually worth buying.

ChargeCompared started as a personal spreadsheet and grew into a public comparison site after Jacob realized most existing "best charger" guides were either sponsored or copied straight from manufacturer press releases. The goal here is different: pull every spec worth comparing, verify current pricing and availability directly from Amazon on a weekly schedule, and mine actual owner reviews for the details manufacturers leave out.

Editorial Process

Every article on this site follows the same checklist. Price and availability are verified by loading the live Amazon product page each week via a Playwright script. Spec claims are cross-referenced against the manufacturer's own product page. Owner feedback is pulled from verified-purchase Amazon reviews and /r/evcharging threads. No product is added without confirming it is currently in stock and the price shown matches what a shopper would actually pay today.

If a product goes out of stock, it is removed from the comparison entirely and a replacement is sourced from an equivalent category. If a price changes, every article that mentions the product is updated in the same pass.

No Sponsored Rankings

No manufacturer pays for placement in any comparison on this site. Rankings reflect specs, price, and owner feedback, not marketing budgets. ChargeCompared earns money through Amazon affiliate links, which means a small commission on purchases made through the site. The commission does not change based on which product you buy, and the ranking order is set before affiliate links are added to the page.
